SSWAG President
Crystal Wright
Greetings:
It is with great pleasure to welcome each of you to such a distinguished organization known as School Social Workers Association of Georgia. It brings me great joy to serve as your 2024-2025 state SSWAG President. It is my belief that Social Workers deserve to benefit from the numerous and diverse educational opportunities offered by this great organization. As we support our families and students by removing barriers that prevent academic success let’s remember that we are the “Architects of Change”. As School Social Workers we provide a mass amount of support to students, families, schools, and the community to identify, intervene and eliminate barriers to students' academic achievement and with SSWAG we do just that.
I currently serve as a District School Social Worker for Bibb County School District, and I have over 18 years of social work experience. Throughout my distinguished career I have been a tireless advocate for quality education and social work development. As a school social worker, I’ve been given the opportunity to gain a deep passion for empowering the field of social work so that we may reach our full potential.
School Social Workers Association of Georgia is an organization that provides support while providing opportunities to connect with other social workers who have been through the ups and downs of the profession. As we are all aware, we can’t give up, but we continue to strive and move forward in a positive direction.
I would like to encourage each of you to showcase your gifts as I’m confident that each one is instrumental with a powerful outcome. I’m indeed humbled by the confidence of SSWAG to entrust me to serve and continue to move this organization forward with great purpose. This is a great task and I believe that as we work together, we will continue to inspire those that we serve daily. It is my plan for the organization to continue to collaborate and engage in various exciting activities that will be offered from our Fall Conference to our Spring Conference and other activities that arise.
During my leisure time I enjoy spending me with my husband, two sons, ages 18 and 14, and an active member of my community and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. I strongly believe in giving back through volunteer work and community engagement.
In closing, I ask that each of you continue to let your gifts serve as a light through this organization. Remember that your work doesn’t go unnoticed and there is a great reward in store for you. Thank you for your service and dedication as we continue to move this organization forward and plan some outstanding events. Let’s continue to be the “Architects of Change”.
Respectfully,
Crystal K. Wright, MSW, Ed.S
